Pouring a Footing
Pakmix® Concrete Mix is a specially formulated blend of Portland cement, sand and gravel ideal for use where a thickness of 2″ or greater is required. All ingredients are thoroughly premixed to ensure maximum strength and workability.
Tools Needed for Project:
- Wheelbarrow or mortar box
- Float
- Hoe
- Curing cover
- Shovel
- Garden hose
Step #1:
Dig a hole for the footing. Always make sure the footing is below the frost line and the base is solid and compacted.
Step #2:
Now, mix the Pakmix® Concrete Mix. Follow the directions on the bag. Mix to a smooth consistency. Avoid a soupy mix as too much water decreases the strength and durability.
Step #3:
Place the concrete into the hole, and fill to the desired level, and use the float to provide a smooth, even surface.
Step #4:
To make sure your footing cures correctly, keep it moist with a fine mist from your garden hose. Then cover with an opaque plastic or burlap. Repeat this process 2-3 times a day for 3 days.
