Pouring A Column
Pakmix® Super 5000 Concrete Mix is a specially formulated blend of Portland cement, gravel, and sand ideal for use where a thickness of 2″ or greater is required. The Pakmix® Super 5000 Concrete Mix is especially designed for use in applications where “high-strength” concrete is desired.
Tools Needed For Project:
- Wheelbarrow
- Float
- Hoe
- Trowel
- Steel rod
- 2×4’s
- 10-penny nails
- Curing cover
- Shovel
- Garden hose
- Level
- Hammer
- Stakes
Step #1:
After pouring concrete footings using Pakmix® Concrete Mix (you may want to use steel rebar for reinforcement from the footing to the column), use a Pakmix® Builders Tube for a form when building a column.
Step #2:
Be sure your tubes have supports around them and pour all of your columns at the same time. Mix the Pakmix® Super 5000 Concrete Mix, following the directions on the bag, to a smooth consistency.
Step #3:
Now place the concrete into the builders tube. Overfill the tube slightly and work the air bubbles out with a steel rod. Use a float or trowel to consolidate the concrete.
Step #4:
To make sure the concrete cures correctly, keep it moist with a fine mist from your garden hose. Then cover with opaque plastic or burlap. Repeat this process 2-3 times a day for 3 days. After 3 days of moist curing, peel off the Pakmix® Tube Form.
