Making A Deep Repair
Pakmix® Sand Mix is a specially formulated blend of Portland cement and sand, ideal for use where a thickness of 1/2″ to 2″ is required. It is perfect for repairing damaged walkways and slabs.
- Wheelbarrow or mortar box
- Trowel and/or float
- Hoe
- Curing cover
- Brush for cleaning
- Hammer and chisel
- Safety glasses or goggles
Step #1:
Use a hammer and chisel to square the edges of the area to be patched. Then thoroughly clean the area of any loose concrete, using a stiff brush or broom.
Step #2:
Pour Pakmix® Sand Mix into a wheelbarrow and form a crater with a hoe. Pour clean water into the crater and mix to a smooth consistency. For improved bonding and strength, mix with Pakmix® Cement Fortifier instead of water.
Step #3:
Apply the Sand Mix to the problem area. Work the material down into the crevices and smooth out with a trowel. Take special care to place Sand Mix level with old concrete.
Step #4:
To make sure your repaired area cures properly, keep area moist with a fine mist from your garden hose, then cover with opaque plastic or burlap. Repeat this process 2-3 times a day for 3 days.
