Step #1:

Dig a 5" deep foundation for the slab. Fill with Pakmix All-Purpose Sand to level the foundation, leaving 3 1/2" depth for the concrete from the top of the form. (You can also level with gravel.) Be sure to compact your foundation.
|
Step #2:

Frame it with 2x6's, supporting the sides with stakes. Trench out for the 2x6's so the finished slab will be level with the top. Slope the formed area at least 1/8" per foot for proper drainage. Mix the Fiber-Reinforced Concrete.
|
Step #3:

Evenly spread the concrete using a shovel. Level the concrete with a strike-off board. Use a float to smooth the surface, moving in a circular pattern. An edging tool should be used to smooth the concrete at the form boards. After about 2 hours, or when water sheen has disappeared from the surface, use a trowel for a smooth surface or a broom for a nonskid surface.
|
Step #4:

To make sure the concrete cures correctly, keep it moist with a fine mist from your garden hose. Then cover with an opaque plastic or burlap. Repeat this process 2-3 times a day for 3 days.
